The Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, has dismissed speculations that the Federal University of Education Numan Bill was rejected by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, clarifying that the presidency only requested corrections to the bill.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ feedback meeting in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Senator Yaroe reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the identified clerical errors and ensure the bill becomes law.

“The bill was not entirely rejected; rather, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requested some corrections to ensure accuracy in the proposed law for the teacher-training institution,” he stated.

According to him, one of the key adjustments required involves the designation of authority over land matters.

“For instance, we mistakenly assigned the power to grant land authority to the governor instead of the president, who is the rightful visitor for the institution,” Yaroe explained.

He expressed optimism that once these necessary amendments are made, the bill will receive presidential assent.

“I believe if those grey areas observed by the presidency are corrected, that would give the president the latitude to assent to it and make it law, as required by the country’s constitution,” he added.

Yaroe assured his constituents that the revised bill would be resubmitted once the Senate reconvenes.

“We will rectify this error by replacing the governor with the president in the bill and resubmit it to the presidency as soon as possible,” he said.
