Former Real Madrid midfielder, Bernd Schuster has put Barcelona star, Pedri among three players he wants to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the 65-year-old believes the Spain international is one of the best players in the recently concluded season, along with Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.
According to Schuster, Pedri should win the 2025 Ballon d’Or because he had a spectacular season, adding that if he doesn’t claim the prestigious top-individual award, then Dembele or Mbappe should win it.
He said: “The whole world will be watching [the FIFA Club World Cup], all the top teams are there, and for certain players already in the conversation [for the Ballon d’Or race] this is a key moment to seal the deal.
“I would d put [Ousmane] Dembele [Kylian] Mbappe, and Pedri in the mix. Pedri’s chances [to win the Ballon d’Or] depend on what happens in the tournament [Club World Cup].
“[Pedri] he is had a spectacular season and I’d love to see him win it [Ballon d’Or]. But if not, then either Mbappe or Dembele could take it.”
All the three players – Pedri, Dembele and Mbappe – had a wonderful 2024/25 season with their respective clubs.
