Liverpool now have 47 points, six more than Forest and seven in front of Arsenal, who host Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Wednesday night.
Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Bournemouth, with captain Reece James salvaging a point with a stunning late free-kick at Stamford Bridge.
The Cherries had taken the lead through Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo, after Cole Palmer’s opener.
Manchester City also played a 2-2 draw at Brentford despite Phil Foden’s quick-fire brace.
