Former Arsenal man, Paul Merson, has told Chelsea to replace their goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.
This came after watching the Blues star “lose” points for the West London side in their defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
Merson reminded Blues’ manager Enzo Maresca of the need to sign a new goalkeeper, insisting that without doing so, it would be difficult for them to progress.
Merson stated that Sanchez lost the match for Chelsea against Manchester City.
He believes that the Blues need to sign a top goalkeeper to reach the level they want to achieve in the league.
The former Arsenal man took to X after the 3-1 loss to Manchester City, saying, “Got to get a top GK to go to the level Chelsea want to go … top GKs win you points, not lose you points.”
Pep Guardiola’s side responded to Noni Madueke’s third-minute strike with goals from Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden.
Chelsea boss Maresca was quizzed about Sanchez’s mistake and admitted that the goalkeeper took responsibility for it.
“Robert, for sure, he is completely aware that he has to do better…” Maresca said after the game.
